John Watson. Crack shot even in the situation like this. Brave. Loyal.
I want him.

I love how John is literally the physical center of this scene, the anchor around which all the other characters revolve. Lestrade’s stepping close to draw his pistol, Henry’s flinching away, Sherlock’s moving back, Franklin’s making a break for it…and in the middle of this chaos, stock-steady and absolutely sure, is John Hamish Watson.

He is a man of action, first and foremost, and always, always a soldier who protects — and who is ready to kill to protect his charge.

John Watson may not be as terrifying a force such as Moriarty or even Sherlock and Mycroft, but he is a formidable power all on his own simply because of his quiet ruthlessness.  Because people sometimes forget that he used to kill for a living too.  And because people are usually complacent enough to believe that he is to kind to do it.

He is the strong, sure, steady anchor and pillar that Sherlock relies on.  And it is only fitting that he is ready to kill only until the absolute last moment when he needs to.

Because that?  That sure, steady stance, with no trace of hesitation in pulling the trigger?

That is dangerous for a man without a strong moral principle such as The Good Doctor.
